One of my mentors in my first few years as a Christian made a statement I didn’t understand at the time, but it impacted me much later, and I’ve never forgotten it. Now, after knowing the Lord Jesus 74 years and at the ripe old age of 92, I most fully grasp what he was saying. Little did he know he was planting a seed of truth in me that would last over 65 years, change my life and become one of the most powerful promises to all Christians! Here it is! You never really know the mystery and wonder of God’s will for your life until you look back on it! You planned, prayed and worked on your salvation to make it the best possible according to the truth you possessed. However, you didn’t realize that the God of all truth was working too, behind the scenes, to make your life better…even perfect and more pleasing to Him. Please study Romans 8:28-339 and 9:22-28. These are marvelous words of love and assurance. Add Philippians 2:12-13 and you have the greatest promises in all the Bible!

I have found this wise counsel true, confirmed by the Scriptures, by my life experience, and many other wise mentors have added to me this “insight strength” as a disciple. Many things in my past—circumstances, relationships, events, situations, obligations, wrong actions and disappointments—have come into my life in my 92 years of earth living, 74 of them knowing our dear Savior. That makes Romans 8:28 one of the most precious promises in the Word of God: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” My life was not created for my purpose but for His.

For every problem we find our Messiah has a guaranteed power promise and both my weakness and the demonic lie. The splendor of His promises for my problems depends on knowing the reality of both His promises and His power. These are the points I profit from by considering His promises and power!

My Praise for the Savior’s Power Promises

By H. D. McCarty

In the midst of all our human mess
My promised peace in Jesus is never less.
I’ve found by His cross I’m mysteriously blest
In my hanging there He handles all stress.
I discover the freedom of His powerful “yes”
And experience the splendor of what I possess!
