The Journey Home

*”I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”* — Philippians 3:14 (NIV)

Here we are—fifty-two reflections later. If you’ve journeyed with us through this year, you’ve walked through Scripture’s most essential truths: who you are in Christ, how that identity transforms everything, and what it means to live faithfully in a world that desperately needs the gospel.

We began by establishing our foundation—understanding that we are in Christ, adopted into God’s family, freed from sin’s dominion, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. These aren’t just theological concepts; they’re the bedrock of daily Christian living. Every morning you wake up, you wake up as a beloved child of God, completely forgiven, fully accepted, eternally secure.

From that foundation, we explored what changes. How the gospel reshapes our relationships, our work, our struggles, and our joys. We examined how Scripture equips us, how prayer sustains us, how community strengthens us. We confronted the reality of spiritual warfare while celebrating the victory already won. We learned that sanctification is both God’s work and our pursuit—not to earn His love, but as the overflow of already being loved.

Perhaps most importantly, we’ve seen throughout this year that the Christian life isn’t about arrival—it’s about direction. Paul, at the end of his life, still said “I press on.” Not because he hadn’t arrived, but because that’s what disciples do. We keep moving toward Christ, growing in grace, becoming more like Him.

So what now?

Now you start again. Not because you didn’t learn it the first time, but because these truths need to penetrate deeper. Return to the truths about your identity when doubt creeps in. Revisit the passages on God’s faithfulness when circumstances seem unstable. Re-read the reflections on love when relationships grow difficult.

The Christian life is a spiral, not a circle—we come back around to the same truths, but each time at a deeper level, with greater understanding, and with more of our hearts surrendered.

And we’ll continue this journey together. In 2026, we’re continuing A Year of Reflections with an emphasis on prayer—drawing from the Psalms as well as insights from C.S. Lewis and others as we explore what it means to commune with our Father, to bring everything to Him, and to be shaped by our conversations with God.

As you close this year, remember: You are in Christ. That’s where you started this year, and that’s where you’ll start tomorrow. Everything flows from that reality. Every challenge you face, every decision you make, every relationship you navigate—you face it as one who is united with Jesus, indwelt by His Spirit, and destined for His glory.

Press on, friend. The journey continues, and His grace is sufficient for every step.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Looking back over this year, which truth has impacted you most deeply?
  2. Which reflection challenged you most? Why?
  3. How has your understanding of your identity in Christ grown?
  4. What specific truth do you need to return to regularly?
  5. What does “pressing on” look like for you in this next season?

Prayer: Father, thank You for this year of walking through Your Word together. Thank You that Your truth is inexhaustible—that we can return again and again and find fresh grace, new insight, deeper understanding. Help us to remember who we are in Christ, to live out of that identity, and to press on toward the goal of becoming more like Jesus. May the truths we’ve explored this year continue to transform us as we walk with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
